Denno Summer Camp 2014
The most numerous group so far was made up of 28 volunteers, which allowed for a division into smaller teams and completing a variety of jobs. During the first couple of days we worked to transform the old and grafiti-littered entrance of a kinder garden in Rijeka, by fixing up the walls and painting artistic murals. We also renovated the upstairs common room/living space in Home Turnic (for the elderly with psychiatric conditions) – with a few coats of fresh green paint. Among all this, there were moments of reflection, meetings, singing, dance practice and art workshops, some of which were immortalized on the photos below.
During the second part of the camp, besides the Flash Mob Dance/Free Hugs evening, we spent two days inland in the area of Karlovac, where the young people visited and assisted needy families. Also in Karlovac, two shows of clown therapy were performed by the youth in rehabilitation centers “Nada” – Vojnic and Karlovac, which all together give a home to cca 400 patients. We ended the week with the traditional pizza party during which, as the greatest miracle of all, we didn’t get rained on this time!
