A Summer of Friendship, Service and Peace
Summer 2026 has come and gone, and it was a full one. Six volunteer camps, guests from many countries, and plenty of new friendships kept our centre busy from the first camp to the last and beyond. Here is a look back at what we shared this summer.
We hosted six volunteer camps. The first welcomed families from Trento (Italy) who have been coming for many years.

- Visiting families in the region of Vojnić
Next came two international camps, with participants from many countries. Some were here for the first time, while others have visited so often that they now help as staff.

The last two camps were each organised by groups of families who know each other. They wanted their children to do more than spend a week together, and to add a new depth to their time by helping others.

At the end of the summer, we hosted Peacewalk, a group walking for peace, for a few days. Peace is a topic everyone talks about these days, and this was a chance to meet people who are keenly aware of the distance between that ideal and reality.
Beyond the camps, many other volunteers and visitors passed through our centre during and after the summer, and each of them left a lasting impression.
It was a tiring summer, but above all a deeply rewarding one. Kindergartens now have bright new murals, our clown therapy visits brought smiles to many faces, and families in need welcomed us warmly, sharing their stories and feeling noticed. And many of our guests went home with full hearts, deeply touched by what they had experienced. Here is what one of them shared:
“I usually bring home a souvenir from my trips, something that reminds me of the place I visited… This time I didn’t need to bring anything back. Any object would have felt insignificant, because what I’m carrying is inside me. It’s something powerful, something I want to treasure, but at the same time let grow and spread. It is unconditional love for others. It is being a bearer of peace in everyday life. It is being attentive to the needs of those close to me. It is gratitude for having met all of you.” (M., Trento)
